About

I partner with leaders navigating transition — whether personal, professional, or organizational — to help them unlock their potential and lead with greater clarity, confidence, and purpose.

With nearly 30 years of experience in the consulting industry, I understand firsthand what it takes to grow through complexity. As a leadership development expert, coach, and former executive, I’ve supported hundreds of leaders as they stepped into new roles, weathered uncertainty, and rediscovered their purpose. I’ve done the same in my own life — through professional shifts, personal reinvention, and a devastating breast cancer diagnosis at 44 that reshaped my understanding of resilience and fortitude.

My coaching approach is grounded in psychology and behavioral science. I use tools like psychometric assessments and 360° feedback to surface insights — not just about strengths and blind spots, but about the often-hidden gap between intention and impact. Together, we’ll translate those insights into actionable strategies for growth.

At the heart of my work is a belief: that leadership is not about being the loudest person in the room, it’s about knowing your voice — and using it to foster trust, connection, and meaningful impact.

If you’re looking for a thinking partner who brings both research and real-life grit to the table, I’d be honored to add a little wind to your sails.

My Story

Building a Foundation of Technical & Management Skills

In the summer of 1995, while in graduate school at Emory University, I used my very first email account to contact Dr. David Cotton, who’d been a fascinating guest speaker in Dr. Nancy Thompson’s Transtheoretical Model course. He’d recently left a research position at CDC to join the consulting firm Macro International, and I boldly asked if he needed any cheap grad student labor.

That moment of courage paid off, and I spent the first decade working for Dr. Cotton applying my behavioral science training to public health research and evaluation projects, primarily for the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). Our office and my portfolio of business experienced double-digit growth for several consecutive years, and as we grew, my roles expanded in scale and complexity (Sr. Associate, Manager, Director, Sr. Director, VP), requiring shifts in both my leadership mindset and skill set. I learned that to be a more effective leader, I would need to let go of being the technical expert (heads down) and lean into general management skills (up and out), like forming teams, developing talent, and driving growth in the business.

My Leadership Stalls & Growth

As a Vice-President and business leader, I found that managing a P&L and difficult client expectations taxed my energy, and I learned that the only way to thrive was to intentionally counterbalance and “fuel” myself with the most fulfilling part of my job, which was leadership coaching and developing talent. Macro International was acquired by ICF in the spring of 2009. As ICF grew, reorganizations were common, resulting in the inside joke, ICF stands for "it changes frequently."

In 2014, three lines of business (LOBs) - mine and two others - were merged into a mega-LOB. I was not asked to lead it, and this might be the greatest unexpected gift that I’ve ever received. Instead, I was asked to focus on developing talent by taking on a new role of Learning Officer for the largest operating group of the company. It was a steep learning curve of active inquiry to understand the business strategies and needs of multiple Divisions, to create the learning and development strategy, and to design our metrics of success, content, and evaluation strategies.

In 2017 another reorganization landed me in our Corporate Talent & Organizational Design function of Human Resources, where I took on project management, people management, and leadership development roles. I loved designing, facilitating, and evaluating development journeys for all levels of leaders, building the capacity of our internal coaching cadre, and seeing the impact of our programs as evidenced by stronger retention rates, higher rates of promotions, increased employee engagement scores, and individual success stories. I left my full-time role at ICF in March of 2025 after celebrating 29 years of service.

Pursuing my Passion!

In 2025, I launched a coaching and consulting practice to focus on the work that brings me the most joy and that the world needs. What I love most about coaching and developing others is the privilege of serving as a thinking partner, helping leaders tap into their deep wells of experience, creativity, and resources to see beyond unhelpful stories and patterns and solve their own problems. It starts with creating the conditions for courageous dialogue to really see and understand the person and their stories. I am endlessly curious about the impact of personality on workplace behaviors, effective teaming, and leadership success factors and derailers. While I value assessments as a data source, I also have “We contain multitudes” literally tattooed on my chest, recognizing that no assessment can adequately represent our full, complex, and contradictory selves. As much as I love keeping up with coaching and leadership research and the latest books, I also respect that for many of us, simple tools are more actionable. When I use resources, they are designed to bridge the gap between “knowing” and “doing” so a leader’s new ways of being is sustained and has the desired impact.

My Values

When leaders are in transition—stepping into new roles, facing unexpected pivots, or learning new behaviors—working with the right coach as a thinking partner can help you get clear about your goals and the steps to reach them .

My values are a compass for meaningful change.

They reflect how I show up: with authenticity, curiosity, and a deep belief in growth through connection and learning. Sharing my values is my way of saying: this is the space we’ll create together, and this is the kind of impact we’ll aim for.
